Our Leadership

The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Americus are appointed by the Mayor of the City of Americus, GA.  Each commissioner, except the resident commissioner, is appointed to serve a five year term or to complete the term of the commissioner they have replaced.  Their terms are staggered so that one commissioner's term is set to expire each year on July 24th.  A commissioner can be reappointed for as many terms as the Mayor may desire.  Our resident commissioner is also appointed by the Mayor of the City of Americus, GA., and that person is appointed to serve for a one year term.  The resident commissioner's term is set to expire September 1st of each year.  If the resident commissioner should lose their housing assistance from the Housing Authority, they would then be replaced.  The commissioners responsibilities include the hiring of an Chief Executive Officer, to set policy, and review the operations of the authority.  The Chief Executive Officer has the responsibility of running the day-to-day activities of the housing authority, acting as the Executive Director, and as secretary to the Board of Commissioners.

Here is our Leadership

 

Our current Chairman is William D. (Bill) Krenson.   Mr. Krenson is a Certified Public Accountant working with a local CPA firm in Americus.  He was appointed to the Board of Commissioners on August 24, 1995.   His term is set to expire on July 24, 2009.

 

  

 Our current Vice-Chairman is Mark Latimore.  Mr. Latimore is a Professor at Fort Valley State University.  He currently holds a PhD.  He was appointed to the Board of Commissioners on August 24, 1995.  His term is set to expire on July 24, 2011.

 

Commissioner Robert Coleman, Sr. is Associate Pastor for Allen Chapel AME Church in Americus.  He served with the Americus fire department for 30 years prior to retiring.  He was appointed to the Board of Commissioners on July 24, 2005.  His term is set to expire on July 24, 2010. 


 

   Commissioner Lynn Ingle is employed with Macon State College as a Instructor for Respiratory Therapy.  She was appointed to the Board of Commissioners in April, 2003.  Her term is set to expire on July 24, 2012.


 

Commissioner Alex Saratsiotis is a Physical Therapist and part owner of Accelerated Physical Therapy.  He was appointed to the Board of Commissioners on September 26, 2007 to replace a retiring commissioner.  His term is set to expire on July 24, 2008.


 

 

   Commissioner Demeika Ferguson is our resident commissioner.  She is employed with Citizens Bank of Americus She was appointed on October 24, 2002.  Her term is set to expire on September 1, 2008.

 


 

Our Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

"Cal" Anderson.   He started with the Housing Authority on January 4, 1988 as the Executive Director.  He was appointed the CEO in an organizational change effective 2/1/2002.  He is a certified Public Housing Manager.  He started working in the public housing field in 1974 as an accountant.    He is involved in several professional housing organization and was the President of the Georgia Association of Housing and Redevelopment Authorities in 1990-91.   He and his family reside in Americus.
